Friday Night At the Movies!

Flick weekends is a wonderful thing in our home. Every Friday we hop in the mini van and drive to Blockbuster to get two or three movies. Then we head over to Pizza Hut to get a couple pizzas. We have everything we need for a long night of intimate movie watching at home.

I have always cherished movies and it has been great to share this love with my family. They now have the same love for movies as I do and it's the best way to spend quality time with each other after a long period of work.

Since movies are my desire, I had to stay up on the profession of surround sound and high definition television. As soon as Panasonic came out with their newest surround sound systems, I was at Ultimate Electronics purchasing it.

It took me forever to get that system up in my basement but let me inform you, the bass will blow you away. Everyone jumps when we are watching a horror flick (our favorite). When high definition came out, I researched all about it and was so thrilled about getting it.

Television was far more pervasive and radicalizing than printing had been. It was massive. When Riesman and others spoke of books, magazines, and radio as mass media, they could not imagine the size and shape of television. There never had been a medium that could reach everybody, and reach them with images of behavior as behavior without the rationalization of words. The audience for its programs was drawn from every social class and every social element. By the mere act of watching television, a heterogeneous society could engage in a purely homogeneous activity. Television images are more rapid and transient than the printed word. They make no demand on us to remember or reflect on them. This impermanence and the time of consumption cause us to spend extended hours with the medium but significantly less time with any one image or sequence of images. Television is instantaneous and simultaneous: Everyone gets the message at the same time and, at the same time that an event is happening. There is no lag time between a reporter witnessing an event and reporting it, and no time for reflection and analysis.

I knew that it was going to take my love for film watching to a completely new level. I went to the store and was so impressed by the awesome high definition pictures. I couldn't believe an HD show could look so true. I knew I had to buy one. I bought the biggest one available at the time and brought it home.

I had it in my living room on Thursday so it was hooked up and ready to go for Friday night movie time. My family decided to get Hostel for our first flick on our high definition television. I thought this would be a great flick for both my surround sound and HD picture.

As soon as we put it in, we could see a difference and watching it was something out of this world. Not only is this film a outstanding thriller it keeps you guessing the total time. Torture machines looked so unbelievably realistic on the TV. It's almost as if you could walk up to the television and touch it.

I think we may have to make a second night of the week movie night. Since I have the ultimate HD movie and TV watching experience in the convenience of my abode, I need to take advantage of it!

One never gets to know a person’s character better than by watching his behavior during decisive moments.... It is always only danger which forces the most deeply hidden strengths and abilities of a human being to come forth.
